Cogne, an Alpine pearl

A stronghold for sustainable tourism

Suddenly, the valley stretches before your eyes, and there, nestled in verdant mountains, lies the picturesque village of Cogne. The town has kept its traditions alive, and it has handled the changes that come with time, both big and small, in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly way.

Cogne is an Alpine Pearl. At an altitude of 1,524 metres, in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, it is ideal for sustainable tourism and, thanks to its efficient electric bike and shuttle services, for a car-free holiday to take in the breathtaking beauty of the Alpine countryside. Catching that first glimpse of Cogne is an unforgettable experience: it lies in a seemingly endless Alpine meadow, one of the largest and highest in Europe, the Prati di Sant’Orso, officially recognised as an “Italian Marvel” since December 2012. Cogne is the ideal place for visitors to relax, to learn about local traditions, to engage with the locals who have lived there for centuries, to enjoy sports. Cogne offers winter travellers 80 km of Nordic skiing slopes, 150 icefalls, snowshoe trails and a park for Alpine skiing. In the summer, holiday-makers can enjoy trekking, mountaineering, and mountain biking along indescribably beautiful paths! For more information, visit the website:

The Gran Paradiso National Park? A dream come true!

“I have a dream, which sometimes turns into a need, almost a necessity, that draws me here. My body and my spirit finally find their lost serenity. My gaze rests on meadows in flower, snow-covered peaks, infinite skies. This is my dream: I’m in Paradise.”

It’s true! You are in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, at the foot of the imposing glacier that bears its name. The Gran Paradiso National Park is Italy’s first national park. It was established in 1922 “in order to preserve the fauna and flora of the area and to preserve the unique geological formations, as well as the beauty of the landscape”. Here, you can fill up on ethereal emotions and encounter legendary creatures, such as the ibex, the historical symbol of the Park. Discover the opportunities, trails and activities the Gran Paradiso National Park has to offer on its official website:
